Sheryl Cooper and a team of inspiring women put on one of Arizona’s biggest fashion events this week. The best part? It was all in the name of keeping Arizona’s children safe and off the streets. Sheryl Cooper and SmartFem’s own Lea Woodford spearheaded Rock the Runway for the third year in a row, showcasing amazing local fashions by Ruby Farias Designs, Vin-T bikini and Glam Squad, all to benefit Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock Teen Center.
Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock Teen Center aims to host at-risk teens and provide a safe place with constructive activities. The Solid Rock website details that the teen center hopes to “inspire artistic excellence” to deter to the countless negative options teens could get drawn into.
Rock the Runway 2015, hosted by Sheryl Cooper with MC Oscar De Las Salas and presented by Lea Woodford, was a huge hit not just on the runway but also for the charitable organization.
The event began with a trunk show featuring some of the Phoenix area’s hottest boutiques, shops, and services. Dr. Mamiko Odegard had a booth where she displayed her books and services. The Las Sendas Golf Club was the place to be on the 27th.
During the trunk show guests were inspired to buy dream boxes, at a $100 value these boxes contained gifts that were either worth over a hundred dollars or a priceless one of a kind piece. Proceeds from the dream boxes went straight to Solid Rock.

The highlight of the afternoon of course was the fashion show. Guests sat down to a light lunch while Oscar De Las Salas hosted the runway display. Sheryl was the very first to strut her stuff on the runway before the actual fashion show began. She thanked the hard working team that helped make Rock the Runway possible wearing a stunning gown that was hand-painted by the valley’s own Ruby Farias.
The founder of Me The Artist studio on High Street in North Scottsdale, Ruby hand-painted almost a dozen gowns for this one of a kind fashion event. The show also featured styles from local companies and designers such as Glam Squad, and Robin Ashford Macy.
The models rocking the locally designed fashion ranged from former Miss Arizona champions to Arizona celebrities such as Catherine Anaya and Terri Oulette. All models were happy to help encourage this important cause as well as to rock some amazing runway looks!
Guests of the third annual Rock the Runway event were treated to fashion, great food, and of course a chance to make a difference in the Arizona youth community by supporting the Solid Rock teens.
