Owning a small business is tough, and marketing yourself is even harder. That’s where Jen DeVore Richter comes in.
Author, speaker and marketing expert, Richter works with business owners to help elevate their influence in the industry.
“The most important thing is knowing how to package yourself,” Richter said of small business owners.
With the changing face of marketing, Richter helps her clients figure out what the best package is, including helping them go more digital.
“It has leveled the playing field,” Richter said.
When brick and mortar businesses use to drive traffic and help market a business, now with digital platforms anyone can be seen, whether they have a storefront or not.
And if used correctly, Richter says the Internet is a valuable tool.
One way a business owner or entrepreneur can use the Internet to its full potential is by knowing what their goal vision is.
“Determine what your values are,” Richter said.
Knowing where you want your business to end up and what your goal for the business is will allow you to find the right tools, and not use something just because it’s popular.
It’s all about choosing to use the platforms that have the most reach to your target audience.
It’s also important to partner with people who have the same values and can help you reach the best target audience for your business.
Once a target audience has been determined and reached, staying credible and reliable are important traits to have to keep your brand alive, and your customers coming back for more.
“If your message was a movement, would you buy into it?” Richter said of those who are looking to determine what their goal vision is.
Richter says, in her experience, those who have clear vision and spend money on marketing strategists tend to hit their business goals.
But you have to have heart and inspiration to keep Plan A alive.
Richter says eliminating the backup plan and staying focused is another tool that is often overlooked, but greatly needed for a successful business to thrive.
