L’Oréal’s New Sunscreen Patch Monitors UV Exposure
With all the time spent playing in the water during summer vacation we often forget to reapply sunscreen, but L’Oreal wants to help remind us how important it is to keep our skin protected from UV rays with their new patch.
It’s called My Patch, and it’s made by one of the L’Oreal Group skincare brands. It’s a fun sticker that is worn on the arm or wrist and monitors your exposure to UV rays.
The patch is a stretchable sensor, and lets you know it’s time to reapply by changing colors. Once you put sunscreen on the patch will go back to its proper color letting you know you’re protected.
The patch can be worn anywhere on the body, but L’Oreal recommends users only wear it on their wrist or hand, the areas of the body most exposed to the sun. It’s also the easiest spot for users to notice when it’s time to reapply.
And applying sunscreen is one of the most important factors in protecting your skin, both for anti-aging and protection against skin cancer, especially when living in a sunshine state like Arizona.
Sunscreen is also not just for the summertime. Dermatologists recommend applying a thin coat of sunscreen on your arms and hands, and to apply sunscreen daily on your face before applying makeup.
The goal of the patch is to remind people to be diligent about wearing sunscreen since the patch can be worn all day and allows for multiple reapplications during the day.
The best part of the patch is it works with a mobile app to help you track the amount of UV rays you’re exposed to while out in the sun.
All you have to do is scan the patch and it gives you a complete breakdown including when to reapply next based on your skin tone.
The patches last for five days once applied. For more information visit La Roche-Posay.com
