Legendary Rocker Alice Cooper and his wife, Sheryl Cooper were on hand yesterday to unveil the recently opened technology center at Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock Teen Center located at 32nd street and Thunderbird in Phoenix. The Cooper’s took a quick break from their current touring schedule with Motley Crue to attend the Technology Center dedication.
The teen center is known for giving the gift of music and dance to at risk teens to give them a safe outlet from the streets. Now they have also given the gift of technology. Sheryl Cooper went on to talk about computers and what it means for disadvantaged teens to have access to technology. Many of these kids do not have access to a computer in their homes.

The computer lab was designed to assist with the center’s after school tutoring program as well as its G.E.D. program, allowing online testing. Alice was also quick to remark that the Rock is the only Free G.E.D. program available in the area. The ten computers in the lab are dedicated as a homework station. The kids have access to a game section in another part of the Rock Teen Center.
Alice Cooper’s Rock Teen center offers so much more than just music and dance lessons. They also offer cooking classes and vocational training in the arts and entertainment industries. Cooper also went on to say the teen center is continuing to grow and adding additional programs such as the up and coming art program and a recording studio which they hope to have done in about three years.
The technology center and four additional computers in the Rock Teen Center were made possible by Corporate Sponsors Cox Communications and Premier IT as well as private Donors Jim Piccolo, Liz Probst and Len and Debbie Gaby.
