Halloween is that one time of year when funny, even controversial costumes are fair game but one costume retailer seems to have gone too far.
Costumeish.com, an online store for Halloween costumes, is selling an adult costume that mimics Kim Kardashian’s horrible night in Paris during Fashion Week.
Under the tab labeled ‘Celebrities,’ the costume titled ‘Parisian Heist Robbery Victim Costume Kit’ comes with a white bath robe, long black wig, a ‘$4 million dollar’ ring, large sunglasses, a fake gag and 2 feet of rope.
A side-note states the ring is plastic and not worth $4 million dollars, just in case anyone thought it may be real.
The entire costume retails for $69.99. The costume’s description includes how to have fun as the Queen of Social Media however, “all that flashy living caught up with her one night in Paris when armed men bound her, stole her jewelry and her peace of mind.”
Reviewers wrote on the retailers’ website and included everything from outrage to mockery.
One reviewer wrote, “Honestly, what the f—- is wrong with you guys?! She is a mother, a daughter and a wife.”
Another reviewer wrote, “What an excellent idea.”
The Internet is a-buzz with the highly controversial costume.
But as news surrounding Kardashian’s traumatic experience continues to circulate, the fact that a retailer is attempting to capitalize on her trauma is sick.
Women who have been the victim of violence, in any capacity, should never be mocked or demoralized, and violence against anyone should never be tolerated.
Hopefully enough outrage will entice the company to remove this sick idea of a costume from it’s site, but based on the other controversial costumes this site has sold in the past, it doesn’t look promising that anything will happen.
Past costumes include ‘The Clock Kid,’ mocking Ahmed Mohamed, the 14-year-old boy who brought a homemade clock to school that his teacher mistook for a bomb, and the ‘Reporter’s Tampon,’ mocking Megyn Kelly.
Yes, funny costumes are a part of the Halloween season, but this one has gone just too far.
