When being asked what it is that I do for a living I find that I have a hard time finding the right answer. With all the roles I play throughout the day, I don’t know if there is one duty that is more important than the rest. I am a mom, student, employee and somewhat of a housewife.
While all these roles are important to me and I take them all very seriously, there are those days when having so many responsibilities becomes overwhelming.
Throughout my life I have been told that the key to having a successful life is to find balance between all the parts of life; like school, work, home and family. However, I have come to learn that balance really can’t be achieved. Some days consist of caring more for your child than any other day; while other days may require more focus on work or school.
Sadly, that has become one of the hardest things for me to deal with. Like many women, guilt is something I have had trouble overcoming throughout my life. I deal with overcoming guilt almost everyday, and that is just one of the burdens that come with being superwoman.
Although being a mother is one of the most rewarding jobs most women can come across, there are heavy loads that come with it as well. And while us women think that we can handle it all, we need to know when it is time to take a step back. Knowing your limits is crucial to living a healthy life. Limits don’t only exist when dieting and exercising, it is a big part of parenting as well.
Women are usually known as the backbone of the family, and are usually looked to when there is an issue or conflict. Don’t feel useless if you don’t have the answer. We’re women, not an encyclopedia. It’s OK to say no from time to time. Learn to accept the fact that you are not perfect, and neither is anyone else.
If you think you’re the only women going through a difficult time…think again. There are over three billion females in the world; chances are you are not the only one having a hard time playing the role of superwoman.
If you find yourself lost at this point in your life, reach out to those around you. You need to be able to extend your arm in order for someone to help you up.
