The 2014 Grammy Awards was a night for the year’s biggest music stars to come together in celebration of song. Nominees for categories such as Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Record of the Year and more arrived at Staples Center hopeful to take home an award. In addition to honoring stand-out music, the Grammys are also a time to honor stand-out fashions seen on the red carpet. This year, we saw bright colors, dazzling gold and sheer looks that, like the winners of the infamous awards, will go down in history.
Orange Dreamsicle
Rather than continue to stand aside while the stars shine, Giuliana Rancic opted for such a bright color at the Grammy Awards, there was no way she could be missed. The bold orange color choice paid off as the feminine Alex Perry gown flattered the television personality’s toned body, with a haltered neckline showing off her arms.
Singer Natasha Bedingfield showed up ready to compete with the red carpet as well, in a similar orange hue. Bedingfield paired her Christian Siriano caped dress with straight-across bangs and bangles to accessorize.
Golden Goddess
It wouldn’t be a proper red carpet without Taylor Swift showing up in a perfectly-fitted shiny metallic gown. The country star stuck to tradition at the 2014 Grammys, appearing on the red carpet in a golden Gucci Premiere floor-length gown with short sleeves. Swift later changed for her performance of “All Too Well” during the show, but remained with the golden theme.
Meanwhile, John Legend’s plus one, Chrissy Teigen, proved to us what a true “trophy wife” means in her stunning Johanna Johnson dress, complete with a revealing strapless neckline and slit that made her look simply statuesque. Despite the distractingly shiny hue of the gown, Teigen stood out on the red carpet.
White Hot Sheer
Dresses that leave little to the imagination are surely not foreign to the red carpet, but the looks featured at the Grammys took a whole new take on an old trend. Beyoncé wowed in a Michael Costello gown, with pretty white lace showering the successful singer from head to toe. Her edgy blonde bob only added to the intriguingly sexy yet romantic look. But we already knew Beyoncé can pull off just about anything!
Katy Perry went for it on the carpet this year in a risky make-it-or-break-it look. Lucky for her, Perry was able to make the sheer Valentino gown work. The dress was made entirely of tulle, and the full skirt with sheet music printed on it paid tribute to what the night was all about. After all, who doesn’t love a good music-fashion mashup?
