That’s right ladies, when your spouse says you’re being too difficult or stubborn, you might just have a good reason for it.
The study applies specifically to men, saying men who marry intelligent women can help prevent dementia.
Lawrence Whalley, mental health professor at the College of Medicine and Life Sciences at the University of Aberdeen spoke about a series of studies showing how intensely stimulated minds tend to ward off dementia later on in life.
“There is no better buffer than intelligence,” Whalley said.
Other methods to help ward away dementia include keeping the brain stimulated with games like crossword puzzles.
And staying active is one of the best ways to help keep your mind and body happy and healthy.
Eating fruits and vegetables, and a diet rich in healthy fats can help keep your mind sharp. Incorporate fats and oils found in fish, along with fruits and vegetables high in antioxidants, according to Brett Spiegel of Everyday Health.
Make sure to get in your exercise, and don’t skip the cardio. Also, keeping stress levels low and making time for some fun in the sun to soak in vitamin D can all help keep your mind in tip top shape.
But undeniably the most exciting news in the ways to help prevent dementia is the fact that engaging and intellectual conversation between spouses seems to be the best preventative medicine.
They say men should always marry a smart woman, and now science agrees.
Hear that, guys? A woman with brains and beauty is the way to go!
