Successfully Spring Clean Your House with These Tips
With Spring just a few days away, it’s time to get into spring cleaning mode.
If you’re overwhelmed by the number of things on your spring-cleaning to-do list, you’re not alone. Check out some tips below on successfully spring cleaning your house.
Make a schedule
Spring cleaning can be a time-consuming undertaking, so make sure to create a game plan. By allocating enough time for each chore, you become less overwhelmed with all the things there is to do. Making a schedule also encourages you to focus on the task at hand and not get distracted by the rest of the items on your list.
Clean room by room
Just like making a schedule, cleaning room by room allows you to focus on what’s in front of you. Not only is it time efficient, but you feel more accomplished when a task is completely done. If completing an entire room seems overwhelming, try conquering the easiest, smallest, or cleanest room in the house.
Declutter
Spring cleaning is the perfect opportunity to declutter your home. While organizing all your belongings does wonders, there’s nothing like taking the time to get rid of items that no longer serve you. Try taking all the items out of each closet, drawer, or room, then, go piece by piece until you’re left with only those items that truly serve a purpose in your life.
Get everyone involved
Don’t forget the small things
The reason spring cleaning is a lot more time consuming than weekly housework is because of the deep cleaning that goes into it. While vacuuming, dusting, and organizing are important, there are a lot of areas of the home that we usually neglect. Things like baseboards, blinds, walls, and windows accumulate a lot of dust, dirt, stains, and grime throughout the year. This is the perfect time to wash, scrub, and detox those areas for a clean home.
Create new habits
One of my favorite reasons to spring clean is to set new habits and standards for my home. Whether it’s a new way of organizing, new rules for decluttering, or a new dusting schedule to keep things clean throughout the year, this is the perfect opportunity to create those new habits.
